2021: Taking Stock

As the year draws to a close, we’ve been taking stock of the last twelve months and all the changes & challenges they’ve brought. No doubt, you have been doing the same, both personally and professionally.

Our first full year as a business, 2021 has been an exceptionally busy one for us at Zano. There has been a lot of excitement in trying new things, putting our ideas into practice and making new or rekindling old connections, but there have also been inevitable challenges. This, of course, has not been helped by the second year of the COVID-19 pandemic…

If we’ve worked, talked or planned together this year, thank you for being part of the journey so far.

One of our biggest achievements in 2021 has undoubtedly been our work as part of the United Nations Development Programme’s Social Innovation Platforms (SIP) in Asia. Working for the brilliant people at Agirre Lehendakaria Center (ALC), we’ve been part of partnerships that promote grassroots innovation in Pakistan, Thailand and Indonesia. This is set to continue and expand in scale & scope during 2022 and we’re looking forward to taking things forward as the year progresses.

As mentioned, 2021 has given us the opportunity to put our ideas and experience into practice, primarily through testing what we believe is a unique approach to grassroots social innovation. This process has resulted in some of our initial assumptions being vindicated, and some of them being challenged. It has also seen us partner with a number of organisations here in Northern Ireland and set up several exciting pilot programmes for the year ahead in both the social innovation and tech for good spaces. We can’t say any more now, but from January 2022 we’re hoping to roll out these programmes publicly and frankly, we can’t wait to show you all what we’ve been working on…

But for now, have a safe & happy holiday period. We’ll see you in 2022!
